INspire West Lothian (Fri)

INspire aims to promote greater pupil autonomy in their learning journey.

We aspire to do this through:
• sharing open-ended challenges that can stimulate motivating learning contexts
• developing broad pupil communities to enable sharing of ideas, peer-to-peer support and challenge

Your Place for Learning

Places for learning have been different in the last six months and they will still be unusual in the coming months. What has your experience been? Did you miss going to school? Was there a good place at home for remote learning? What if we can use this experience and design better places to learn? What would your design look like? You are the experts. Please share your ideas with us.

Six words challenge

This challenge was the stimulus for the Engagement, Disengagement, & Pupil Voice project. It's a simple yet complex challenge that would work with anyone - from 4 to 104. It asks us to be brave, to re-imagine, and to create a new schooling experience. Send us your creations and we will add them to the Look-Out Tower.

What if we really listened when young people talked to us about their school experiences?

Could this be an opportunity to recreate education to engage all learners?

In this project, service designers worked with disengaged young people and listened to their voices. what follows is an essay and a collection of quotes from the young people involved and the responses of the designers who they worked with. Join us in the discovery tent on Monday at 5pm for a discussion about what we can learn from these voices, to help us recreate schools where all learners feel they can participate.

How to Hut

Source: Hanneke Scott-van Wel, Lynne Cox, Alison Watson, Kathy Li, Kirsty Cassels

Join us! Let’s design and build a hutWe all know about huts and most of us will have built at least one hut before, maybe under your bed, behind the sofa, in a tree, or in the open, in a field. It probably was great fun to build and to hang out in the hut. Let’s use those memories and do it again. We’ve put together a menu for you to help you create your own hut. This is going to be an adventure, and like all good adventures we want to know the full story of all the good ideas as well as the mistakes that happen along the way. Let’s get started!
This PDF document will guide you through the process.
